Meet the Team

After receiving her BS degree in Animal Science from Louisiana Tech University in 1996, Dr. Renee Jones graduated with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2000 from LSU School of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Jones practiced mixed animal medicine for a few years before making the transition to emergency medicine, joining Dr. Welch at the Animal Emergency Clinic in 2003.

Dr. Jones still enjoys her large animal time with her cattle and horses on her farm. She is an avid outdoors woman that enjoys shooting sports, hunting, and fishing.

Dr. Welch grew up in Haughton, LA, and graduated from Haughton High School in 1992. He then attended Louisiana Tech University and graduated with an Animal Science degree in 1996.

Dr. Welch spent the next four years attending LSU School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2000. His first three years out of vet school were split between Metairie, LA and Hallsville, TX. He joined the Animal Emergency Clinic staff in 2003.

He currently lives in Shreveport and has been married to his high school sweetheart for twenty years. They have three boys (all growing up too fast), Garrett 19, Gage 16, and Graham 10. He also has a Yowser named Leia.

When Dr. Welch is not caring for sick and injured cats and dogs, he enjoys spending time with family, running, biking, traveling, and watching LSU sports. Geaux Tigers!

Dr. Randee Monceaux was raised on a farm in Northwest Louisiana, which cultivated a deep interest and love of helping animals. She attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, and she graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s in Animal Science. During her undergraduate schooling, she worked for the Animal Emergency Clinic as a veterinary assistant, which inspired her love of emergency medicine.

Dr. Monceaux was accepted into Louisiana State University Veterinary School and graduated in 2012. During veterinary school she had the rare honor of being one of the caretakers of LSU’s live tiger mascot, “Mike the Tiger”. Dr. Monceaux took every advantage in veterinary school to advance her skills and knowledge in the area of caring for animals in an emergency situation. Due to her contributions during her clinical rotations, she received the Emergency and Critical Care Award from the veterinary school.

Immediately after graduating from LSU, she started practicing at the Animal Emergency Clinic under the mentorship of Dr. Jones and Dr. Welch. Dr. Monceaux has been a member of the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society since she graduated, and she is still fueled by her passion of caring for animals. Dr. Monceaux has a special interest in ultrasound and its applications to patients to find quick answers and to pinpoint treatment options.

When she isn’t working at the Animal Emergency Clinic, her hobbies include traveling, caring for animals on her farm, photography/filmography, and, most of all, spending time with her husband and daughter. Dr. Monceaux has many pets: Sylvia the standard poodle, Sora and Sasha the cats, Charlotte the cow, several horses, and a flock of chickens.

Dr. Seth Trachtenberg graduated from Washington State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. He has been practicing veterinary medicine full time for over a decade and a half. He has practiced in Washington State, California, Idaho and now calls Louisiana home.

Dr. Trachtenberg is an Officer in the United States Army Reserves, Veterinary Corps and is a decorated veteran of Operation Inherent Resolve, Operation Spartan Shield where he and members of the 195th Medical Detachment Veterinary Services Support out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana deployed to the Middle East from 2016 to 2017.

Dr. T is a puppy co-parent to four dappled miniature dachshunds: Lexus, Piper, Ruger and Kimber. These affectionate wild ladies are full of energy and although generally well behaved they do delight in getting into mischief from time to time. He does have a favorite but he’ll never tell.

On his time off Dr. T enjoys riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle through the beautiful backroads of northern Louisiana, listening to local bands at live music events and is an avid sportsman, supporting local wildlife, habitat management, good sportsmanship and safety.
